With 14.2 million active domestic customers, approximately 21,000 employees and total assets of €229 billion, Deutsche Postbank Group is one of Germany’s major financial services providers. Its focus is on retail business with private customers. It is also active in the corporate banking sector. In its “Transaction Banking” division, it performs back office services for other financial services providers. Deutsche Postbank AG went public in June 2004. Since September 2006 Postbank is listed in the DAX German share index. The majority shareholder is Deutsche Post AG. In 2006 Postbank took over 850 Deutsche Post branches and acquired the majority of BHW Holding AG.
The Postbank Group’s growth has continued for years. Its profit before tax climbed to €1,004 million in 2007 (2006: €941 million). In 2007, Postbank gained one million new customers and the number of its core customers rose from 4.4 million to 4.6 million. It has set itself the goal of becoming Germany’s number one for liquidity and finance management.
