Philosophy
The core competence and objective of Deutsche Postbank International is to offer its customers the business opportunities of the euromoney- and eurocapital-markets, thus enabling them to benefit from the advantages of the financial centre Luxembourg for their banking business. The Bank’s activities are focussed on two key areas: The first area is advice and support for customers investing in capital market instruments. This also includes fund business with private customers which involves in particular the issue, sale and administration of mutual funds. The second key area is the Bank’s money- and capital market business with corporate customers. Here, PBI complements the services offered by Postbank Firmenkunden AG. The range of products that comprises money market, FX, loans and derivatives products is revised continuously and expanded by new products to reflect current market and client requirements.

Furthermore, PBI through its Treasury department has established an active presence in the international financial markets.

Activities
The Bank offers its Private Customers investments in Postbank- and carefully selected third-party funds. It also provides its clients with advice on alternative investment opportunities within a comprehensive counselling approach. An individual investment strategy is elaborated on basis of a review of the investor’s financial status, customised to the particular needs and requirements of the client. This investment policy can be updated anytime, taking into account changes in the market environment as well as modified investment objectives. In addition to mutual funds, further investment opportunities like securities (bonds, equities, certificates), foreign exchange and other markets are provided. As at 31 December 2007, Deutsche Postbank International S.A. serviced approx. 210,000 securities accounts for customers.

In the business line Corporate Customers, the Bank offers the classic array of treasury transactions (money market deposits and loans, FX, FRA’s, IRS etc.) to manage liquidity-, interest-rate- and currency risks. In order to offer a comprehensive advice to its institutional clients, this range of products is supplemented by instruments that are customised according to the particular needs of individual clients. Thus, PBI complements the product range of Postbank Firmenkunden AG for corporate clients with specialised products. Through its business line International Finance, the Bank participates in the international syndicated loans market and grants bilateral loans and Schuldscheindarlehen (private placements) to corporate clients.

In the Interbank Trading sector, PBI offers money market- and capital market transactions in all major currencies, as well as securities brokerage. Tasks relating to the investment fund management are being performed directly by the Bank itself (fund administration, securities account management, custodian bank, as well as securities trading and processing and reporting). It also cooperates closely with the group's capital market units.
