“Postbank EasyTrade.AG” is the newly founded Postbank brokerage subsidiary, which carried out its first employee orders on Friday. Within the context of the “Order without Border” premiere, Professor Dr. Wulf von Schimmelmann, Chairman of the Postbank Board of Directors, placed the first stock purchase. Hence, Postbank has – as scheduled – laid the foundations for the new business division in only ten months. Schimmelmann regards the introduction of the new brokerage as a decisive and significant step for the bank: “Stocks and shares perfectly round off the Postbank range of products and services.”

During the next few months, all IT systems will be tested in detail. In parallel to the floatation of Deutsche Post, customers will be offered a comprehensive range of investment services. In the medium-term, Postbank EasyTrade is set to acquire a leading position within the German brokerage market. In future, customers will be able to purchase and sell stocks and shares, manage their portfolios, access price information and download online charts.

Wulf von Schimmelmann is confident that with a target of 250,000 portfolios for the first year, Postbank will join the ranks of the big industry players from the very start. It most certainly has the best possible prerequisites to achieve this goal: more than 650,000 customers currently manage their current accounts online, with a further 1.5 million processing their banking business by telephone. It is these channels on which Postbank EasyTrade is currently focusing.

Currently, the Postbank EasyTrade team comprises approximately 50 employees, a figure which is expected to rise. The team is made up of market specialists and Postbank employees.

At the end of February, Postbank EasyTrade – in cooperation with Netlife AG – will for the first time present its brokerage at the CeBit 2000.
