With immediate effect, Postbank is a premium partner of the German Football Association (DFB) for the area of financial services. The contract has initially been concluded to 2008 and covers not only the sponsoring commitment, but also the DFB qualification campaign. Postbank is also to become the main DFB bank. DFB and Postbank made the announcement on Monday in the run up to the Germany vs Italy international in Stuttgart.
Postbank is already a “National Sponsor” of the FIFA 2006 World CupTM in Germany. By supporting the German national team on its path to the FIFA 2006 World CupTM, is rounding off its commitment to soccer in a meaningful way. Dr. Wolfgang Klein, head of private customer business at Postbank, states: “With this commitment to the German Football Association, we want to show people in Germany that Postbank also achieves top performance. With our motto: “simply and economically” we are looking for the shortest route to goal. That is something that also characterizes the German national team.”
Postbank will also become ”Official Partner of the DFB Qualification Campaign”, which covers the initial, advanced and professional training structure in soccer at four levels: rapid information with the direct service by internet, basic information with intensive training of club trainers and staff, preliminary training for a license with compact initial and advanced training and the more comprehensive training within the DFB license system which is much more time-consuming.
DFB President Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder commented on concluding the agreement with Postbank: “We are happy to have gained a further well-known partner. The cooperation shows that the DFB wants to achieve and offer top performance everywhere, not only on the pitch.”
Horst R. Schmidt, DFB General Secretary and Vice President of the World Cup Organization Committee, expects positive impulses from the cooperation with the Postbank at several levels: “As a national sponsor, Postbank will play its part in making the FIFA 2006 World CupTM a success. For millions of fans, with special offers it will provide a service which undoubtedly will meet with a strong response.”
Wolfgang Klein announced that the general public should be able to be involved with the national team and in the FIFA 2006 World CupTM. “We will launch products related to the subject of football and the FIFA 2006 World CupTM, which are particularly interesting for customers who would be like to experience the events live.” The Bonn-based bank is currently designing a credit card with the DFB which will be an absolute must for every football fan. It is to include a bonus system, with the awards being tickets for international games up to and including World Cup matches. The partnerships with the DFB and FIFA mean that Postbank has the necessary card contingent. In a few months, Postbank will introduce an investment fund with a focus on companies with a World Cup commitment. This include sports article manufacturers, airlines, etc.
