Every year Postbank gains more than half a million new customers

Postbank is celebrating a new record for customer numbers. At the end of 2004, it broke through the barrier of twelve million private customers. Since 2001, Postbank has increased the number of its private customers by around half a million each year. The Bank has thus consolidated its position as the financial institute with the most customers in Germany. Since the end of 2003, Postbank has been the retail bank with the higher number of customers, followed by Deutsche Bank with 8.5 million private customers and Dresdner Bank with 4.8 million private customers (source: Capital 7/05).
Over the last four years, Postbank has increased its customer base by over 15%, equivalent to a net increase of 1.6 million customers. At the end of 2001, 10.5 million customers used Postbank, this figure rose to 11.1 million as at the end of 2002, 11.5 million in December 2003 and roughly 12.1 million at the end of 2004.
According to “Kundenmonitor Deutschland 2004”, Postbank customers are among Germany’s most satisfied banking customers. With an overall satisfaction level of 2.30, Postbank is above the industry average. Only the Sparda banks (1.83) and Citibank (2.22) received a better customer rating. Customers were particularly pleased with Postbank’s cost effectiveness, an area in which customers feel that Postbank clearly distinguishes itself from its competitors. Postbank also has a much better rating than its competitors for accurate settlement and entries. Customers are also positive on Postbank’s online and telephone banking offering. Another plus – Postbank’s product offering and terms were praised by customers.
In the period between April 6 and August 7, 2004, ”Kundenmonitor Deutschland 2004” surveyed over 5,000 Germans on their satisfaction with banks and savings banks. More than 550 of them were Postbank customers.
