On November 29 2005, the Deutsche Postbank AG Supervisory Board appointed Hans-Peter Schmid to the Management Board of the Bank. He assumes responsibility for over-the-counter sales in Retail Banking, which had been headed by Lothar Rogg since 2002. Rogg is to concentrate on the branch organization of the Deutsche Post. The Postbank Supervisory Board thanked Rogg for his very successful work.
At the beginning of 2006, Postbank intends to acquire approximately 850 branches from Deutsche Post in order to push its products more strongly. Hans-Peter Schmid (born in Munich in 1958) will take on this task. Schmid learned sales management, especially of the branch business, from the bottom up. After his training as Bank Officer at what was then Hypo-Bank in Munich, he assumed various functions in the Retail Customer division as branch manager and later as divisional branch manager.
In 1996, he was appointed as a member of the Management Board at HSB HYPO-Service-Bank AG in Leipzig and was responsible for the realignment of the bank. In 1998, he became a member of the Nuremburg-based norisbank AG Management Board. His functions included the integration of HSB in norisbank as well as managing branch sales. After the sale of norisbank to DZ-Bank AG in 2003, he left the Management Board at his own wish in the middle of 2004. After consultancy work, Schmid was Deputy Chairman at the Bonn-based Bonnfinanz AG where he was responsible for sales.
