Postbank and HUK-COBURG agree sales partnership

Deutsche Postbank AG and the HUK-COBURG insurance group have agreed a long-term sales partnership. From October 2007, Postbank will sell HUK-COBURG car, liability and property insurance policies exclusively via its sales channels. Conversely, HUK-COBURG will exclusively offer retail banking products from Postbank such as current accounts via its sales channels.

Dr. Wolfgang Klein, Chairman of the Board of Management at Postbank, welcomes the agreement: "In the HUK-COBURG insurance group, we have found the optimum partner in the liability and property insurance sector. Both companies are widely recognized and are known for their reputable, cost-effective services. Our customers will benefit from this, as we will deliver services from one source. For example, when buying a car, they can obtain finance from Postbank and take out insurance from our partner HUK-COBURG. We are thus also opening up access to an additional 8.5 million customers for our banking products."

For Rolf-Peter Hoenen, CEO of the HUK-COBURG insurance group, the partnership between Postbank and HUK-COBURG is "credible and logical. Both partners focus on private customers as their target group. With its almost 15 million customers, Postbank and we have a very broad customer base and rank among the best providers in the relevant areas of cooperation. The best brands and the best conditions promise economies of scope for private customers."

Postbank recently sold its activities in the life and accident insurance sector to Talanx AG and agreed correspondingly long-term sales cooperations. The collaboration now concluded with HUK-COBURG enables Postbank to distribute an extensive range of insurance products for all needs of private households via its sales channels. In addition, sales of Postbank current accounts in particular are to be significantly increased via the HUK-COBURG network.

HUK-COBURG has previously had no sales partner in the banking sector. It therefore expects a considerable increase in new business as a result of market access via the sales channels of Postbank. Furthermore, its own network of 38 branches, around 400 customer service offices and approx. 4,500 part-time agents is to be strengthened by the provision of attractive Postbank products.
