Postbank: exploiting the opportunities of e-business
New fund invests in booming market/Prominent representation of the yellow share following company floatation
"Postbank Global e-Conomy" is the name of the international equities fund, in which Postbank combines the growth areas of e-commerce/internet, logistics and financial services. The concept behind the fund is based on the fact that booming internet trade is dependent upon transport and financial services. Logistics and IT service providers in addition to banks are all benefiting from this boom. Those interested can subscribe to the fund at an initial issuing price of EUR 50 per share until October 21, 2000. During the subscription period, the selling mark-up will be reduced to 3% for investment sums of minimum EUR 7,500. Thereafter, the daily issue price and a selling mark-up of 4% will apply. The minimum amount which can be invested is EUR 2,500 or DEM 5,000. Once the subscription period has ended, it will be possible to invest in a savings plan of a minimum of EUR 50 or DEM 100 per month.
A particular highlight of the fund: The Deutsche Post share will be prominently represented in the fund following the company's floatation. Other companies which Postbank intends to include are AOL, SAP, Yahoo, and Nokia (e-commerce), UPS and TNT Post Group (logistics) and Deutsche Bank, Consors and E*Trade (financial services).
The opportunities for investors are considerable. Experts estimate that as early as 2001, sales generated via e-commerce will amount to USD 700 billion worldwide. In 1998 this figure amounted to a mere USD 73 billion. The benefits will balance out the risks as the investment capital will be distributed among a range of companies, sectors and regions. Owing to price fluctuations, Postbank recommends a long-term investment of at least five years. Partial withdrawals and increases can be effected at the currently prevailing share price at all times.
"Postbank Global e-Conomy", managed by Postbank Private Investment, is number 24 in Postbank's stable of funds. The Bank administers a total of 350,000 accounts with a funds volume of DEM 7.4 billion or EUR 3.8 billion for its customers.
