The supervisory board of Deutsche Postbank AG, Bonn, has appointed Dr. Wolfgang Klein as a Member of the bank's Board of Directors. Within the private banking division, Mr. Klein will assume responsibility for all Products/Marketing/e-Banking activities. To date, Mr. Klein has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband (DSGV), Bonn/Berlin.

Positioned as a retail bank with ten million customers, the Products/Marketing/e-Banking division of Deutsche Postbank AG is one of the bank's most important areas within private banking. With his vast experience acquired working for Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and Dresdner Bank in particular, 36-year-old Mr. Klein is able to provide the multi-faceted know-how required for successfully managing this division.

Following his A levels and vocational banking training, Mr. Klein completed an MBA course at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 1990. In 1991, he acquired a degree in economics at the private University of Witten/Herdecke. His professional career commenced in 1991, working as a member of the Financial Institutions Group at McKinsey&Company Inc., Düsseldorf. In 1996, he was appointed Divisional Head of the Dresdner Bank AG, Frankfurt. He was responsible for the private customer and investment advice division for policies and strategic projects. In 1997, Mr. Klein was appointed CEO of the direct banking subsidiary of Dresdner Bank, Frankfurt, responsible for Marketing and Sales.

In 1998, Wolfgang Klein went to DSGV. As an Executive Member of the Board of Directors, he was responsible for the IT, Cards/e-Commerce, Payment Transactions and Risk Controlling strategy.

In addition to this, Wolfgang Klein is also an active member of numerous supervisory boards and international committees. Among other things, he is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Eurokartensysteme, Frankfurt, Member of the Board of Directors of Europay, Waterloo, as well as the Board of Directors of Maestro International, Waterloo. Klein will be joining Postbank on January 1, 2001.
