Postbank introduces real-time online bank statements

Real-time transfers around the clock within the Postbank network/electronic bank statements as pdf files/free chart signals for stock analysis

Press release of May. 17, 2004

Postbank direct, the online financial portal for private customers, is now being used to expedite banking transactions. With Postbank direct, customers can now track incoming and outgoing checking account payments to the minute – including all information about the intended use. In the past, only the account balance was updated throughout the day, with sales only being posted in the evening. It is primarily private online retailers that place particular value on this advancement in terms of both time and information, as they can now dispatch the required goods earlier than before. “This facility makes us the ideal bank for the ever increasing numbers of customers taking part in online auctions,” said Dr. Wolfgang Klein, Private Customers Director at Postbank.

Real-time transfers

If both the sender and the recipient have a Postbank checking account, they can track the transactions online using Postbank direct, around the clock. As transfers made by senders are processed immediately and cannot be canceled at a later date, this practically equates to a guarantee of payment for the recipient. “The possibility of real-time transactions within the Postbank network is a great advantage for our private customers”, said Dr. Wolfgang Klein. “This allows us to further consolidate our competitive position as a national bank.”

The improvement to the online banking facilities is made possible by the new SAP accounting system that Postbank introduced last year. The new software enables, for the first time, real-time transactions.

Archiving electronic bank statements

Archiving electronic bank statements There is also a new option of saving bank statements in the form of a PDF file. In this way, Postbank is meeting the requirements of its private customers for the electronic archiving of bank statements. It is important to the customer that the layout of the printed bank statement is retained in the PDF format.

Free chart signals for stock analysis

Postbank now provides a professional tool for those using chart technology for stock analysis. Customers can use the “Stock signals in securities charts” function to analyze securities and identify any weak phases with stocks. This information provides customers with support in making decisions about the right time to sell the security. This tool is available free of charge via Postbank direct to Postbank customers with a securities account.

Postbank direct

For customers, the online financial portal for private customers connects the online banking and brokerage services with other services such as the mobile TAN or SMS messages. For example, those who wish to issue orders while on the move can receive the required transaction number (TAN) on their cellular phones. In order to ensure that they are always up to date with financial matters, customers can also receive SMS information on their cellular phones about the status of their checking or securities accounts.

Postbank passes on the cost savings from internet banking to its online customers in the form of interest rate advantages. For example, online customers receive an interest rate of 3% p.a. on savings in excess of €3,000 with the Postbank SparCard 3000 plus direct.
