Postbank: Andreas Bezold new Finance director

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Postbank AG appointed Andreas Bezold as CFO of the bank as of April 1. This position was previously held by Chairman of the Management Board of Postbank, Prof. Dr. Wulf von Schimmelmann. With the appointment of Bezold, Postbank is strengthening its top management in the run-up to the planned IPO.

Bezold, 55, is an acknowledged finance and controlling expert, in particular in the area of accounting in accordance with “International Accounting Standards” (IAS). Following on from a law degree at the universities in Freiburg, Hamburg and Munich (1971–1975), he started work as a lawyer. At the same time, he also worked freelance for the accounting firm Wollert-Elmendorff Deutsche Industrie-Treuhand GmbH. In 1982, he passed his tax consultant exam and one year later his chartered accountant exam. Bezold then established himself at Wollert-Elmendorff and was ultimately a partner and director. In 1991, the Essen man by birth moved to Dresdner Bank AG, where he then became an executive manager in 1996. Between 1999 and 2000, Bezold was a deputy Management Board member, where his responsibilities included risk controlling. After resigning his position, he has been working as an accountant since 2001, with a focus on the UK. On July 1, 2001, Bezold joined the team of experts at EFRAG – European Financial Reporting Advisory Group in Brussels.
