Postbank: Online bank statements now also available in Brokerage

Benefits both customers and the environment

Press release of Apr. 24, 2009

Postbank is expanding its services in online brokerage. It now offers its customers the possibility of receiving bank statements and securities statements electronically as PDF files instead of paper statements. The improved service satisfies the growing customer wish to file documents electronically and do without paper. Since 2001, Postbank customers have been able to opt to receive their credit card statements online only – in 2006 this also became possible for current account statements.

Opting for the new form of statements in online brokerage saves you the walk to the mail box and the filing of documents. Instead, you download your securities statements from your inbox onto your PC as a PDF document. In DIN A4 format, the statements are laid out clearly. The search function is one advantage of the PDF format: Whereas searching previously involved taking time and making the effort to go through statement by statement, now it is only a matter of entering the term into the search field. Positive for the environment: Online account statements save paper. This means every customer can make an individual contribution to protecting the environment by switching.

You can register for online account statements at online brokerage. Under “Service” -> “Change type of delivery” in the menu, you can change the type of delivery and confirm the change with a mobile transaction number (mobileTAN) or an indexed transaction number (iTAN). The switch is voluntary and can be reversed at any time. Possible annual tax certificates and declarations of profits for the securities account are not affected by the switch. These continue to be mailed to your home. If you forget to read your online statements, Postbank will automatically send a paper statement for your security after 42 days.

Approximately 4 million Postbank customers carry out their banking transactions online. Around 900,000 customers have now opted to receive their current account statement in electronic format. More than 400,000 customers no longer have paper credit card statements.
