Postbank: Customers can determine card limits individually

Service applies to cash withdrawals at ATMs abroad

Press release of Jul. 22, 2009

Just in time for the vacation season, Postbank is expanding its service for the customers. As one of the first German banks for private customers, it offers its customers the possibility to determine the card limit for withdrawals at ATMs abroad individually.

The customer can increase the limit for their account for a vacation or a longer stay abroad, for example, and decrease it again after their return. Postbank recommends setting the limit to zero for customers who currently do not use their Postbank card abroad.

Card limit change by mouse click

Online banking allows the customer to view and change the weekly limit for withdrawals abroad for all Postbank cards under "Settings" in the security menu section anytime. You authorize yourself with your iTAN or your mobile TAN. The limit can be changed on a daily basis. The change will be effective within less than an hour. Depending on the level of the account balance and/or the credit limit granted for the account, the limit can be set to a maximum of 7 times the daily limit.

Changing the card limit is also possible in writing or via telephone banking by contacting our call center.

Postbank customers can use their Postbank card to withdraw cash at about 1 million ATMs worldwide. Generally, the personal limit for withdrawals at ATMs abroad is up to € 1,500 within 7 days.

Postbank offers the possibility to set the card limit for cash withdrawals at ATMs individually, in order to protect its customers against card fraud abroad. This adds to the measures that Postbank has already taken to assure security when using ATMs and protect their customers against loss.
