Postbank online banking: Changes in 2011
chipTAN generators now also available from branches/gradual phase-out of iTAN/new security procedures and new portal
The year 2011 at Postbank will be characterized by new features in online banking. These include the change to the new security procedures such as the free mobileTAN and chipTAN comfort and a relaunch of the online banking portal. Right at the beginning of the year on Monday, January 17, Postbank is therefore starting to sell chipTAN generators throughout Germany at its 1,100 Postbank Finance Centers. This offers customers another possibility, in addition to the online webshop, to purchase a TAN generator and thus to change over even more easily to the new security procedures in online banking. The prices range between €11.90 and €14.90 depending on the device.
Online banking to become paperless
As previously announced, Postbank will take further steps in discontinuing the iTAN procedure in 2011. Starting from January 18, it will no longer send printed iTAN lists. It is also deactivating the iTAN for customers who have already chosen to use the new mobileTAN and chipTAN comfort procedures. Complete deactivation of the iTAN is planned from mid April 2011 for all private clients.
New portal for online banking
Under the motto “Two to one”, Postbank is to combine the two portals “Postbank direkt” and “Postbank Online Banking” this year. The new online banking will have even better user management, a clearer design and many proven and new functions. And most important of all: there will of course be increased security with the free mobileTAN and the chipTAN comfort.
Information and assistance
Postbank is helping its customers in changing over to the new security procedures. For instance, it has set up a special free hotline on 0800 – 75 77 777 which provides assistance with all questions about the new procedures. Further information is also provided at www.postbank.de/sichere-tan, in the message box in online banking, by post and with their account statements. Customers can find their closest Postbank Finance Center for personal advice or to purchase a TAN generator online at www.postbank.de/filial-suche or using the mobile finance app “iPostbank” under “Cash”.
